A long day....
Today started off way earlier than I would like at a little before 6am. Our refrigerator had leaked and there were several large puddles on our kitchen floor. After cleaning it up Allen and I enjoyed a cup of coffee and breakfast together. Next Karly came down to inform us that Shelby's neck was hurting and she couldn't move (she had a bad crick in her neck:). Then Coleman woke up and his diaper begin to literally leak puddles while Allen was holding him. This was all before 8 am! I said this is why I don't get up early, Ha!
Today for math we continued to look at coins and we made a timeline from the earliest penny we found (1967) to present day. Then we graphed the coins we found. This was good practice and opportunity to discuss how to read the year and how to look at a simple timeline. Next we chose a penny and determined if we were older or younger than our penny. Below are the girls writings about their pennies

We then went to Micheal's craft store for their crafts around the world event. We have made crafts so far from Sweden, Germany, Egypt, and today the Bahamas! They make a small item to put on a hat and then a craft. Today they made cute koozies all beachy like:) Perfect for trip this weekend.
This afternoon we read Strega Nona and then reviewed our vocabulary words, I even heard Karly use the word barricade correctly yesterday after we had read. The girls also answered some questions, sorted real and fantasy story items, and placed the story sentence strips in order.
We are attempting our first lapbook with the reading of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Needless to say it is very simple and not too pretty it has been a nice jumpstart for discussions. We have been discussing each chapter and are hoping to finish the book up this week. To conclude we are going to watch the movie and make Turkish delight. Should be a lot of fun!
Now I need to go to bed. I am exhausted!
