Summer Learning Fun
We have done school in little bits and pieces since the beginning of June. This our first official year of homeschooling. For the past two years Shelby has been schooled from home with a Cyber Academy. This year she is beginning 2nd grade and Karly is beginning kindergarten! Hard to believe. I hope that this blog can be a journal of our journey in homeschooling and help us document our learning. So here it goes:)
Today we began a math replacement unit about money. This is the book we are using Math by All Means: Money . We observed different coins and noted their similarities and differences. We then recorded their dates and will discuss more about that tomorrow.

The girls also began their new handwriting books: Handwriting for a Reason. Shelby is using the transition book and Karly is using level A. I think they are going to be great practice and I love they also incorporate a scripture each week.
For Science this summer we are have 3 Little Lab experiments that we are going to have fun with. We started with BOATS. We looked at what floats and sinks, do egg floats, what shape does a boat have to be to float. I will post some of the sheets we recorded our data.
I felt busy today with school and I am a little nervous how it is going to go with a toddler and a newborn in tow! By the grace of God we will make it through. There may be some tears (probably mine) and some struggles but it will all work its self out in the end
